Easy Craft Ideas for Adults Using VELCROⓇ Brand Products

Who said crafting is just for kids? Having a creative outlet is just as important for adults, offering a way to calm the mind whilst simultaneously encouraging you to focus and utilise various skills. Not only that, but producing something you’ve made from scratch is an incredibly rewarding feeling.

That’s why we’ve put together two easy, whilst also practical, crafts you can carry out as an adult using VELCRO^Ⓡ Brand products.

Reusable Mop Pad

When it comes to cleaning your home, purchasing the necessary supplies can be expensive and wasteful, which is why it’s in your best interest to use reusable products where possible. One such item is using a washable, reusable mop pad.

To make this, you’ll need:

• 1 x pack VELCRO^Ⓡ Brand sew-on tape
• ½ metre flannel fabric
• 1 x old hand towel
• DIY mop pattern

Step 1

First, cut out your pattern and attach the two pieces as directed.

Step 2

Fold your towel in half lengthways and place the pattern on top, then trace around it in permanent marker.

Step 3

Cut out the traced shape in your fabric and repeat Steps 2-3 with the flannel fabric.

Step 4

Place the two pieces of fabric together and sew around the edge, leaving a ½ cm seam, along with a small gap so the mop pad can be turned inside out.

Step 5

Turn out your mop pad and sew a strip of VELCRO^Ⓡ Brand sew-on tape on each four corners of the ‘H’ shape of your mop pad, ensuring the top two use the hook side and the bottom two use the loop side.

Your mop pad is now ready to attach to your mop and use!

Scented Sachet

If you’re looking for a way to keep your clothes, underwear, towels or linens smelling fresh, then creating scented sachets to put in your drawers or cupboards is a great solution. These also make great handmade gifts!

To make this, you will need:

• 1 x pack VELCRO^Ⓡ Brand stick-on for fabrics tape
• 10cm x 20cm organza fabric (2 pieces)
• 5 cm x 23cm cotton fabric (2 pieces)
• Dried flower petals (e.g. lavender or rose), dried orange slices or dried fragrant herbs of your choice

Step 1

Cut out your fabric and pin together the organza fabric. Sew around three sides, leaving one of the shorter sides open.

Step 2

Repeat Step 1 with the organza fabric, ensuring the right sides of the fabric are facing each other before sewing.

Step 3

Fill the organza bag ¾ of the way full with your chosen scents. Once filled, turn the open edges of organza inwards and sew together.

Step 4

Turn the organza pouch the right way out and iron. Fold the open edges inwards, then apply a 9cm strip of VELCROⓇ Brand stick-on for fabrics tape to this inside section of the pouch, ensuring one side has the hook and one side has the loop.

Step 5

Place the organza pouch inside the cotton pouch and press the VELCRO^Ⓡ tape closed.

Your scent pouch is now complete!
