What is Self-Adhesive VELCROⓇ Tape?
Before we go on to discuss the differences between the two hook and loop tapes, we thought we’d first briefly summarise what self-adhesive VELCROⓇ hook and loop tape actually is.
Adhesive VELCROⓇ tape is a type of hook and loop product that comes in the form of a roll of tape (similar to how a sticky tape roll appears). The back of both the hook side and the loop side then feature an adhesive, allowing them to be stuck to different surfaces, respectively.
The purpose of this is to then allow you to connect two surfaces together using the hook and loop, whilst remaining detachable to suit your needs. For example, you might stick the hook side of self-adhesive tape to a surface, then stick the loop side to a remote control to avoid it getting lost, yet you can still detach the two when you wish to use the remote.
How is Low Profile Tape Different to Standard?
As its name suggest, low profile VELCROⓇ tape is much thinner than its standard counterpart, thus giving it a lower profile. This allows it to be less noticeable when used, making it ideal for applications where you desire a more discreet appearance.
It achieves this through the use of the HTH (high technology hook) – ultra-thin, moulded plastic hook tape that feels smooth to the touch – and the velour loop, which is ‘less fluffy’ than the standard loop. Despite its slimmer profile, this type of adhesive VELCROⓇ tape still offers an equally strong connection.
